NIH and UCLA to Host Regional Workshop for Students, Postdocs & Investigators Interested in Sexual & Gender Minority Research

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), in conjunction with UCLA, will host a Sexual & Gender Minority Research Workshop on Friday, February 22, 2019. Participants will learn about the NIH structure and grant processes, meet NIH Program Officers and extramural researchers who have been successful at obtaining NIH funding, and network with others interested in SGM-related health research.

NSF Releases Solicitation for Mid-scale Research Infrastructure-2

In 2016, the National Science Foundation (NSF) unveiled a set of "Big Ideas," 10 bold, long-term research and process ideas that identify areas for future investment at the frontiers of science and engineering. The Big Ideas represent unique opportunities to position our Nation at the cutting edge of global science and engineering leadership by bringing together diverse disciplinary perspectives to support convergence research.

Cancer Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) Request for Proposals for Award Year 2020

On December 12, 2018 the Cancer Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) published its 2019 Request for Faculty Seed Grant Proposals for Award Year 2020. Proposals must be submitted by a member of the Academic Senate at one of the ten UC campuses who serves as the PI for the award. A Letter of Intent (LOI) is required.

Associate Vice Chancellor for the Technology Development Group Shares Details about Faculty Innovation Fellows Application

On December 6, 2018, Associate Vice Chancellor for the Technology Development Group Amir Naiberg announced a new pilot initiative started by the Technology Development Group, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, and Startup UCLA. UCLA’s Faculty Innovation Fellows is a new, campuswide program aimed at advancing entrepreneurial excellence and startup culture among faculty across campus.

Call for QuickStart Program Applications for Research Related to Breast Cancer or Tobacco-Related Disease

The Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP), California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) and the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) are accepting applications to QuickStart, an innovative three-month program that supports community-academic teams in conducting community-partnered participatory research related to breast cancer or tobacco-related disease. This is a rare opportunity to get technical assistance directly from funders on a research proposal developed over the course of the program.

The California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) is now accepting applications for the 2020 Class of the CCST Science & Technology Policy Fellowship program. The program places professional scientists and engineers in the California State Legislature for one-year appointments.
