On November 1, 2022, Executive Vice Chancellor Roger Wakimoto shared the news that The National Institutes of Health (NIH) had announced a new Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy that applies to proposals submitted on or after January 25, 2023. The NIH DMS Policy covers data-generating research funded in whole or in part by the NIH.

On October 14, 2022 the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) and the Institute of American Cultures (IAC) held a reception to honor UCLA Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellows (CPF) and recipients of the Racial and Social Justice (RSJ) and Latinx Studies Seed (LSS) grant awards. All three programs aim to support an intellectual community among the recipients, encourage future collaborations, and enable recipients to attain additional research funding.

As Acting Director, Professor Noble will provide strategic leadership and vision to the early growth of DataX. The Acting Director will have the opportunity to recruit outstanding faculty, create an exciting and diverse intellectual and educational community; strategically seek out new opportunities in research and education; and foster new interdisciplinary connections across campus.
