The first UCLA Falling Walls Competition was a success. Fourteen contestants presented their breakthrough ideas at the competition on Thursday, October 3, 2013. The top-three winners secured invitations to participate in the International Falling Walls Competition to be held in November in Berlin.
The UCLA Falling Walls winners were:
3rd place - Jerrid Matthews with a phone app to guage UV exposure toward anticipating skin cancer risk
2nd place – David Hsieh with a novel approach to treating early stage cancer mutations
1st place – Kevin McFarland with a digital assessment application for results-based education
