As an early priority in his tenure, Vice Chancellor Wakimoto focused on enhancing relations with federal agencies. As a former Assistant Director for the NSF, he had an understanding of the importance of increasing communication between campuses and funding agencies. To achieve this objective, he enlisted the parternship of the Federal Government Relations Office on campus.

Activities began in this area in Fall 2017.
Current Status
The initiative remains active and now part of the operations of the office with the hiring of a dedicated Events Manager in Fall 2018 to program campus visits.
