ELIGIBILITY

Can non-Senate faculty apply for Transdisciplinary Research Acceleration Grants (TRAG) funds?

Yes, this funding opportunity is open to all faculty. Both PIs must hold UCLA faculty or academic administrator appointments. This includes individuals in the senate, lecturer, adjunct, other non-senate, or academic administrator series.

Can co-PIs be from different departments within the same College division or professional school?

No, projects must have one lead principal investigator (PI) and at least one co-PI from a different school or division at UCLA

Are visiting faculty or postdocs eligible to apply?

No, visiting faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and individuals without UCLA appointments are not eligible to serve as the PI, although they may serve as co-investigators or team members.

My official start date is 7/1/2022 in a faculty or academic administrator position. Am I eligible to serve as PI or co-PI?

Yes, if you will be in an eligible position as of 7/1/2022, you may serve as PI or co-PI. If you are not currently in a position eligible to serve as PI or co-PI, please indicate on the application how you will meet the eligibility criteria by 7/1/2022.

Can I apply to more than one funding opportunity through ORCA, such as the TRAG, the Arts Initiative, and the Racial and Social Justice seed grants?

Yes, but only if the applications are for two distinct projects. The same project may not seek funding from more than one internal grant opportunity. Moreover, faculty cannot be PI for more than one application (but may serve as team members for more than one).
