The Research Enhancement Office is a small team within the Vice Chancellor for Research organization with a number of initiatives in progress, and new ones identified each year. To date, these initiatives have focused on activities designed to facilitate individual faculty members, teams of researchers and their support personnel in attracting extramural research funding, creating relationships and developing and implementing strategies that increase institutional competitiveness. Some of these activities have been developed by the team members and others are programs initiated by the Vice Chancellor for Research. Activities conducted within the Research Enhancement Office include:
- Facilitating access to funding opportunities from external and internal funding sources including securing tools for institutional benefit
- Coordinating Limited Submissions and Awards Nomination processes
- Organizing research related events, grantmaking webinars/workshops
- Designing various programs to encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration and enhance institutional competitiveness, most notably UCLA Grand Challenges and also a number of internal funding mechanisms
