The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) is excited to announce its partnership with Morgan State University (MSU), a public research Historically Black College/University (HBCU) in Baltimore, Maryland. With top-tier resources such as 10+ State Supported Research Centers and over $20 million in federal grant funding, Morgan State is an ideal HBCU to begin a bidirectional partnership with UCLA.
The goal of this initiative is to strengthen research exchange and mentorship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, across both institutions. We cannot do this without first acknowledging the productive, existing HBCU partnerships that support faculty research collaborations as well as undergraduate student research experiences at UCLA; many of these programs are currently listed on the UCOP UC-HBCU webpage and were spearheaded by UCLA faculty members. The new UCLA-MSU initiative aims to elevate these existing relationships while building a more cohesive, mutually beneficial exchange with MSU.
