UC Research in OptumLabs Data Warehouse

This is an opportunity to apply to be one of seven UC researchers to receive OptumLabs-funded access (aka "research credits") to its database of de-identified linked clinical and administrative claims information (terms and conditions apply), The opportunity developed out of the strategic relationship between UC and OptumLabs. OptumLabs is an open, collaborative center for research and innovation focused on improving patient care and value. The comprehensive real-world data with nearly 200 million de-identified lives across claims and clinical information contains a rich, linked dataset, which can be used to conduct broad or narrow investigations on populations and unique subsets within them.

For the 2020 call for proposals, there are two steps: (1) Submission of  Research Proposal Form to UC; and (2) OptumLabs Research Application. Please note you will need to log in to see the application information.

Eligibility Details
  • All full time faculty members from the University of California system, who are eligible to submit grants, may submit a proposal as the Principal Investigator or Co-PI. At least one PI or Co-PI on the proposal must be a full time faculty member at one of the five UC academic medical centers (UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UCSD, UCSF).
    • Co-PIs and Co-Investigators at all 10 UC campuses are eligible on proposals (with at least one Co-PI meeting the above criteria).
  • Each PI may submit only one proposal.
  • Previous awardees are eligible to apply for a new project.
