UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies ITS seeks qualifications of faculty and researchers to perform research on projects organized under the UC ITS COVID-19 Transportation Response and Recovery Research Agenda. This agenda, presently under development, will include transportation research projects and activities that assist with California’s response to and recovery from the public health and economic crises caused by the pandemic.
- Response to the immediate public health emergency, including mobility needs of essential workers and vital goods, the capacity of both the private and public sectors to meet those needs, and the substitution of technology-enabled access for mobility in response to movement limitations.
- Recovery of transportation services and systems when the immediate public health emergency ebbs, including coping with goods and people movement backlogs, and the mobility needs of vulnerable individuals, households, and firms during an economic recession and possible COVID-19 endemic.
UCLA ITS is casting a wide net for willing and interested researchers from a range of academic fields, including those not typically involved in transportation research. Individuals or teams registering through this call may be contacted to form directed research projects.
Qualifications submissions will take less than five minutes and include:
- Name(s), affiliations, and contact information
- biosketches or CVs for individual or team

This month, UC ITS leadership is working with the state’s transportation leaders to further identify their needs for UC ITS research and analysis. From this outreach and the UC ITS RFI and this RFQ.
