The UCLA Institute of American Cultures (IAC) invites applications for support of research on African Americans, American Indians, Asian Americans, and Chicanas/os for 2023-2024. The Institute also invites proposals on interethnic relations that will increase collaboration between the Centers and/or between the Centers and other campus units.
Award Amount and Details
Ordinarily, faculty and staff projects will be funded for no more than $10,000 and graduate student projects for no more than $7,000.
- Due to budgetary constraints, awards are typically for lesser amounts.
- Funds for the purchase of permanent equipment will be provided only under exceptional circumstances. Such equipment must be returned to the appropriate Ethnic Studies Center upon completion of the project.
- Funding available on a reimbursement basis only.
- Funding is not available for conference travel, whether attending or presenting.

- Grant Period: July 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024. Applications are available October 17, 2022 and must be received by 11:59 pm (PST), March 1, 2023. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will be notified in May.
