Maureen joined UCLA in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) in 2015 and graduated from UCLA in 2013 with a BA in Sociocultural Anthropology with an emphasis in Communications Studies. As a returning Bruin, Maureen has taken on an ever-increasing number of projects and responsibilities during her time at UCLA in the OVCR. She enjoys the dynamic environment that comes with working at a large research university, and is passionate about bridging the worlds of communications, social media, campaigns and programming, and public impact-focused research in her role as Content & Promotion Officer.
In this role, Maureen coordinates activities for the UCLA Research Enhancement Office (REO), as well as the UCLA Grand Challenges program. She liaises on communications-related projects with both UCLA Grand Challenges teams (UCLA Depression Grand Challenge and UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge) and is responsible for its content management, internal communications and website management, social media management and execution. Working directly with Michelle Popowitz (Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research & Executive Director for UCLA Grand Challenges), Maureen also helps to develop and implement strategies to effectively promote programs and services offered by the OVCR to the campus community.
Prior to joining UCLA in the OVCR, Maureen worked at the media company, Participant Media, in their Social Impact Campaigns & Programming department in support of promoting socially relevant film, television, and digital campaigns and programming such as "Spotlight," "Contagion," "Lincoln," and "The Help."
