On March 8, 2021, Amir Naiberg Technology Development Group Associate Vice Chancellor, CEO and President announced that applications for the 2021 UCLA Innovation Fund are now open. UCLA faculty from all schools who have signed the UCLA Patent Policy are eligible to
apply. The eligible projects must fall into one of two tracks: Therapeutics or Medtech (medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health).

On March 4, 2021, Associate Vice Chancellor, CEO and President for the Technology Development Group (TDG) Amir Naiberg announced that TDG is accepting applications for the Pearl Cohen Poster Award Competition ($250 - $750 cash prizes), a unique opportunity for applicants to showcase their bioscience research to industry leaders, entrepreneurs and investors. Submission deadline for digital bioscience posters is Monday, April 26, 2021. Submission deadline for the poster pitch recording is Monday, May 10, 2021.
On February 16, 2021, Virginia Steel, UCLA's university librarian, shared a BruinPost announcing the future launch of UC Library Search, a unified discovery and borrowing system, to launch on July 27, 2021. The UC Library Search will connect all 10 UC campus libraries and enhance the current UC Library Search features. The enhanced features of UC Library Search will replace Melvyl as the UC-wide library catalog search tool.

On January 25, 2021, UCLA's university librarian Virginia Steel announced the open nominations for the 2021 UCLA Librarian of the Year Award. The award recognizes excellence in librarianship and responds to the intellectual, informational, and cultural needs of the university community.

On January 22, 2021, Vice Provost for Information Technology Jim Davis announced the formal name change of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) to emphasize focus on data and technology solutions for research. The new name also marks strengthened relations with and continuing campus expectations for the Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) and the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII).

In observance of the UCLA 2020-21 Winter Holiday Closure, the Office of Contract and Grant Administration (OCGA) will close at 5:00 PM on Friday 12/18/2020 and will reopen at 8:00 AM on Monday 01/04/2021. Proposals with sponsor due dates between 12/17/2020 and 12/31/2020 must be submitted to OCGA no later than 8:00 AM on Monday 12/14/2020. Applications and other inquiries received on 12/17/2020 and 12/18/2020 will be reviewed beginning 01/04/2021.
The University of California San Diego and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are organizing a joint-workshop on computational mechanics and sciences geared towards women researchers. This is an inclusive virtual workshop and open to everyone interested. LANL has convened the Regional Academic Collaboration (ReACt) collective with selected universities in the Southwest Region. ReACt seeks to facilitate increased collaborative multidisciplinary resarch and academic interaction between LANL and regional universities.

On November 21, 2020, Vice Chancellor for Research Roger Wakimoto shared information regarding the impact of the Limited Stay at Home Order on approved research activities. As part of the communication, VC Wakimoto noted that staff and students working on research for a PI are considered part of the essential workforce based on approval of their Research Operational Plans. As such, these staff and students do not need to be sent home during the 10:00pm to 5:00am curfew currently in place.
